Sweet Soul: A Balanced Life Series | Kinesha Goldson

As a verb, balance is defined as: “to keep or put (something) in a steady position so that it does not fall”. As a noun, balance is defined as: “an even distribution of weight enabling someone or something to remain upright and steady.” When it comes to my new series “A Balanced Life” I have chosen a few lovely ladies to feature that I believe embody what it means to live a balanced and healthy lifestyle. These women inspire me to keep buying organically (even if it is more expensive and some people just don’t get it), to keep working out (even if it is the first time in my life I am getting fit in a healthy way) and to keep up the positive attitude and energy.

Could it be her bright, beaming smile? Or the fact that she is a fellow Jamaican gyal? Perhaps it’s her hustle spirit (founder and owner of Cameo Macaron food truck and contestant for Miss Universe Jamaica) that drew me to Balanced Babe number ten, Ms. Kinesha Goldson. What ever it was, I am so happy I clicked “follow” on her Instagram page and am able to gain daily inspiration from her on the “Balanced Babe” and fitness front. It is comforting to know that there are still women out there who know that they’re beautiful, but prefer to lead with their brain. She is ambitious and a true inspiration; I hope she inspires you too!

Hi everyone!

Welcome back to my Balanced Life series. I took a little break from blogging to de-stress from a bunch of things that were going on, but I am back and ready to attack! In order to kick things off, I am bringing you my eighth Balanced Babe: Nancy Chen aka @approachingpaleo on Instagram. Not only is she a boss when it comes to fitness and leading a healthy lifestyle (just follow her on Insta to see what I’m talking about), but she is just a boss babe at being resilient. Similar to myself, she too fought through a horrible eating disorder and came out on top! That is truly inspiring to me, and I hope after reading her interview, you leave here inspired as well!

Sweet Scene Giveaway!

DSC_0004

Hey Guys!

The holidays are upon us and I cannot be more excited. Christmas is my most favorite holiday there is and I want to share a bit of joy with my readers and followers on social media.

In September, my blog turned 1 and I didn’t do anything to celebrate because I didn’t feel my blog was in the place I wanted it to be by now. I sat back and thought about it and I’ve come to realize I have accomplished things with this blog. I’ve met great blogger friends, worked with brands that echo my views on health and food and continue to see my numbers grow (even thought it’s not all about #s) all the while staying true to who I am; writing about things that matter to me and not just for the likes.

I say all this to say THANK YOU! Thank you for reading my blog and for those that are subscribed to it, thank you for that also!

I want to show a token of my appreciation by doing a giveaway!

Below are the items in this little “pamper me” giveaway!

Previously, I’ve worked with Kevita and they were kind enough to send me FREE vouchers for myself and to giveaway to my readers. You can read my post about Kevita here and here, and visit their site here!

I’ve blogged about this local Boston brand before too, you can read about it here. I love Organic Bath because their products are organic and made out of essential oils and things like coffee beans! It nourishes your skin and smells amazing too! The stress less is my favorite and you can have the scrub and body butter for yourself which was kindly given by Organic Bath for my giveaway!

If you haven’t read about my account of my first ever facial with Skoah, then you need to read it here. Skoah is amazing. It takes a lot to wow me and make me a fan of something, and I can truly say I am a fan of this company. They’ve kindly contributed a travel size shampoo and conditioner for this giveaway!

SweetFit: No Gym? No problem! | At home workouts!

Now that I am transitioning to a new job, I must give up my amazing gym membership (something about saving money and not spending frivolously or whatever). Although I’m sad to give up the amazing perks of going to an all woman’s gym (with fruit infused water, spa-grade bathrooms and no men to make me feel awkward), I am not discouraged.

Many people think that in order to lose weight or build muscle/ tone up, you have to join a gym or spend ungodly amounts of money on some fad workout class. Fortunately for those who may feel unfortunate that they might not be able to afford said gym membership without a great work discount(such as myself), there are other ways in which you can get gym results…at home!

I’ve taken some of the workout routines from my favorite classes (barre sport, tabata etc) and brought them straight to my living room.

Now I can workout everyday with no excuses of not having time to drive to the gym!

Question of the Day: What are your favorite at home workouts?
