Sweet Soul: A Balanced Life | Ana Goes Fit

As a verb, balance is defined as: “to keep or put (something) in a steady position so that it does not fall”. As a noun, balance is defined as: “an even distribution of weight enabling someone or something to remain upright and steady.” When it comes to my new series “A Balanced Life” I have chosen a few lovely ladies to feature that I believe embody what it means to live a balanced and healthy lifestyle. These women inspire me to keep buying organically (even if it is more expensive and some people just don’t get it), to keep working out (even if it is the first time in my life I am getting fit in a healthy way) and to keep up the positive attitude and energy.

Ana, of @anagoesfit, is a fitness guru here in Boston. If you follow her on Instagram (if not, what are you waiting for?) I’m sure she has inspired you to get out there and run a few miles, to try a new workout class, or eat a bit healthier and not let anything stop you. She is truly inspiring (leaving her home in Mexico and starting a new and active life here in the states) and I’m so happy I got to learn a bit more about her during this Balanced Life interview.

1. What does a Balanced Life mean to you?

This can be so personal and so different to many, but to me having a Balance life is when all the aspects in life are working together. From being caring and close to my loved ones, taking care of myself whether it’s working out or taking care of my skin, work and career. Balance to me is giving 100% to everything and enjoying everything I do. Never forgetting that my life is more than one day choosing fries over a salad. I believe in enjoying while taking care of myself.

2. Do you have an AM and PM routine that contributes to your balanced life?

My working hours are all over the place so I make sure I drink at least 1 liter of water as soon as I get up to flush all the toxins and to keep me hydrated during the first hours of the day. My night routine isn’t the best, since I spend too much time on my phone, but I make sure to clean my face and get into comfy clothes and give a quick yoga stretch to sleep better.

3. What is your definition of self-love and positive body image?

I like to believe that leading by example is what I do, so I have tried to stop comparing with other bloggers or fitness friends, I like who I am and I strive to become my best version. I feel like in a world where we can consume so much information so fast, it’s easy to forget who we are and where we come from, so I like to come back home and remember who that little girl was growing up, embrace who I am and do my best to represent where I come from.

4. What are some ways you stay active and foods you eat to achieve a balanced mind, body and soul (favorite work out routines, favorite healthy dish/ snack etc.

I like to switch up my workouts every other month and try different classes, but yoga is something that I will do at least once a week. It helps me relax and keeps me sane. Also I have a green smoothie almost everyday, I like to have it when I am on the go
5. Words to live by/ favorite quote that has to do with positivity, good vibes or positive body image.
Love people, use things. The opposite never works.
