Known as a summer colony, Martha’s Vineyard, or “land amid the streams”, is a treasured summer destination for many. Enthralling its wanderlust excursionists, (whether doe-eyed or well versed in the island), with its rich history and all it has to offer, “The Vineyard”—as it is affectionately known—is one place to add to your “Must Visit” list.
I’ve only been to the island one handful of times, but each time proved more enlivening than the next. My boyfriend, who has been frequenting the island for the past 12 years, is the seasoned vet in showing me the many sights and sounds MV offers.
This past Labor Day weekend was spent in Edgartown, relaxing at South Beach, dining at favorites, Chesca’s and The Seafood Shanty, grilling delicious produce and meats from Morning Glory Farm, and belly laughing with some of the most amazing people that I know.
Due to the fact too much fun was being had (and I lost an old camera by bringing it out at night), not too many dinner pics were snapped. The picture below of my boyfriend’s paella dish from Chesca’s speaks volumes of the kind of fresh seafood was consumed all weekend! (think calamari, lobster, clams…OH MY!)
So if you ever find yourself on this beautiful island, please be sure to visit the locations listed above, and just relax and take in the beautiful island sites and the salty, cool island air.
Question of the Day: Have you ever been to the Vineyard? If so, what places do you like to frequent?
